Best Odds to Bet on 2018 NCAA Football Small Bowls

Celebration Bowl 2018 Promo Image

Many across the United States are rubbing their hands together in anticipation of Christmas vacations, but it’s the nation’s gamblers who really can’t wait for the middle of this month to arrive. That’s because it will signal the start of the NCAA Bowl Season and non-stop sports betting action throughout. Most consider the next 4 weeks the greatest time of the year thanks to both college bowl games and final stretch of the NFL season. Merry Christmas!

It all begins this Saturday, December 15th with six Small Bowls sure to delight and entertain, especially since few people have watched these teams so far this year and no one truly knows what’s going to happen. Try to remember when putting money down that non-CFP Bowls are always full of surprises with no “sure things”.

To be perfectly clear, this guide has the “best odds” depending on which side you’re backing. This is because it’s sometimes possible to find different numbers, allowing sharps to “line shop” at honest online sportsbooks to jump on larger payouts if they match the desired action.

Unfortunately, the Small Bowls coming up this Saturday haven’t generated a large variation of opinion amongst bookmakers so there aren’t many “value bets” floating around. However, some advantage plays to get down on have been identified and top options are highlighted below.

Best Odds for 2018 Non-CFP Bowl Games

The first game to kick off at 12:00pm comes courtesy of Football Championship Subdivision with the Air Force Reserve Celebration Bowl at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, and Alcorn State facing off against North Carolina A&T State. Don’t bother shopping because every book currently has Aggies 7½ over the Braves. “Strike 1” for value wagers.

Then non-CFP Bowls swing into action with the AutoNation Cure Bowl at 1:30pm and UL Lafayette squaring off against Tulane, and sadly everyone unanimously agrees again, with Ragin’ Cajuns at 3½. However, top betting site Bovada is giving a little more than others with a +145 moneyline on Lafayette and a total of 59. It looks like habitually-timid Head Bookmaker Pat Morrow is getting a little adventurous for this year’s Bowl Season.

Bet on Sports at BovadaNext at 2:00pm the New Mexico Bowl features the Utah State Aggies (yes, they have the same nickname as North Carolina A&T) favored by 9 against North Texas Mean Green. Again the line is unanimous but a little extra value is at award-winning BetOnline Sportsbook for those staking underdog Mean Green, as their ML is +290 rather than +275.

At 3:30pm the Mitsubishi Motors Las Vegas Bowl kicks off in what experts feel will be a pretty tight matchup between the Arizona State Sun Devils (+4) and Fresno State Bulldogs. Again, Bovada and Morrow step up with a slightly juicier spread of Sun Devils 4½, as well as a moneyline of +165 instead of +160.

In an even tighter tilt (according to prognosticators), the Raycom Media Camellia Bowl has everyone agreeing on a 1 point spread for the “Battle of Eagles” with Georgia Southern having a slight edge over Eastern Michigan. The total has been set at 47.5 at most places so don’t waste time searching for better.

The final game of the day kicks off at 9pm with the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl and Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders (+7) facing off against Appalachian State Mountaineers. Every site agrees on the spread yet again, however, a more-appealing dog line is at “BOL” with +230 instead of +225.
